For our first event of 2019 we are thrilled to welcome back one of Australia’s most accomplished young pianists Oscar Wong to the Flutterbies Piano Room at Tyalgum. In a very special solo recital Oscar will take us through a journey of music from the Baroque, to Classical and the Romantics, featuring some of the great Masterpieces by Bach, Mozart, Chopin and much more!

A recent graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium of Music (Bachelor of Music, Advanced Performance) graduating with Distinction, Oscar has performed as a soloist, chamber musician and concerto soloist, he has performed in Japan, China, Russia, Malta and throughout Australia.

Oscar was First Prize Winner at the 2017 Lev Vlassenko Piano Competition, First Prize winner at the 2017 Australian Concerto and Vocal Competition and has won major International Piano Competitions around the world. His extraordinary talent was recently acknowledged by the Australian Music Examination Board in 2017 with their highest honor – The Fellowship in Music.

    This one-day interactive workshop is brought to you by the Green Cauldron Farm and presented by a range of industry experts including internationally renowned biointensive gardening educator and restoration grazing consultant Jodi Roebuck from New Zealand’s Roebuck Farm. The day is open to anyone interested in learning more about the concept of market gardening, creating one for personal food production, or setting one up as a business. Presenters include:
    • Jodi Roebuck – Founder of Roebuck Farm, New Zealand
    • James Hutchinson - Founder of Longley Organic Farm, Tasmania and specialised tool company for market gardeners, ActiveVista
    • Greg Plevey - Founder of worm compost producer Wormtec
    • James and Katie Geralds - Founders and Owners of Green Cauldron Farm
    • Mattis Hoeft (Bsc) - Farm Production Manager
    This is a unique opportunity to hear and learn from industry leaders about how to start and operate a successful market garden, with the workshop conducted on the 105-acre Green Cauldron Farm, set in the beautiful Tyalgum hills just one hour from the Gold Coast and nestled in the shadow of Mt Warning. The brainchild of Katie and James Geralds, the farm was established as a research and development hub to realise their goal of innovative and sustainable use of harvests from around the region. It already produces a range of fresh produce supplied to some of the best-known restaurants in South East Queensland and a range of pantry preserves highlighting Australian native ingredients. The 2019 season marks his 20th year growing and selecting heritage vegetable seed and the subsequent expansion of his gardens on Roebuck Farm with 40+ beds for vegetable production based on the work of peers Curtis Stone (The Urban Farmer) and Jean-Martin Fortier (The Market Gardener). Jodi's commitment to regenerative agriculture has created relationships with many of the world's leading figures, shaping the direction of his farm and influencing his students around the globe. This masterclass workshop is open to industry practitioners who want to learn more about market gardening techniques through highly interactive on-farm activities including soil preparation, growing, harvesting, processing and marketing your end product.
