INTRODUCTION TO SILVERSMITHING

Learn the basics of silversmithing in a relaxed, country setting here in Tyalgum, northern NSW. During the course of the day you will become familiar with the fundamental tools of the trade, learn how to cut, saw, anneal, solder, texture and finish a ring, which will be yours to keep! Classes run from 10am until 4pm on a Saturday, and are for up to six students, to allow for individualised tuition. Full payment is required upon booking to secure your place.

$185 tuition fee, includes two rings.

Stalls are spread out throughout the village, starting at Celestial Dew Guesthouse next door to Flutterbies, where you will find a lot of handmade arts and crafts, woodwork and local foods and preserves. Be sure to wander through the back gardens along Marketta Lane while you are there.

Find more locally handcrafted and vintage wares in front of the Tyalgum General Store, and then just past the shops on Vintage Corner, where you will find a bohemian artisan collective, including art classes and kiddies corner.

And be sure to wander down to the Tyalgum Hotel, where there are a collection of bric a brac, vintage and handmade local wares also available on market day!

Three of Australia’s very best Ballroom, Latin and New Vogue dance couples will perform an exciting and glittering display of their incredible talent live at Tyalgum Community Hall and this year we welcome back our stunning guest soprano Petah Chapman.

The Ballroom dances will be performed by 2015 Australian Professional Ballroom finalists Peter & Rebecca Beardsley, Our Latin bracket will feature top competitors Nick Eades and Kimberley Biggs from Brisbane. and our New Vogue bracket is presented by undefeated Australian Professional New Vogue Champions Jarrod & Jayne Dawson. This is a special showcase of some of Australia’s finest dancing talent.

The O’Heart Festival is a 3-day festival in Tyalgum village bringing together everything we are passionate about: music, the environment, alternate energy solutions, wellbeing, spiritual growth, and of course the handmade arts and crafts culture. Most of the events will be free to the public, unless otherwise stated. Please bring a pocket full of change to support the stalls and busking circles along the way!

Commencing with live music at Flutterbies from lunchtime on Friday August 26th, the weekend will roll out with a number of events happening throughout the village, culminating in The Heart Collectors Garden Show on Sunday afternoon.
 
There will be a number of music venues in rotation throughout the weekend, including Flutterbies & Flutterbucks, Celestial Dew, The Orpheum Bookshop & Poet’s Corner, The Tyalgum Hall and The Garden of Light; screenings of films about environmental awareness and alternate energy solutions, and a variety of Guest Speaker presentations and information stalls. There will also be a strong focus on wellness, with practitioners, wellness stalls, psychic readings, organic and raw foods and drinks, yoga demonstrations and classes, energy tools – everything to nourish the mind, body and spirit, to be held at the Hall. Handmade arts and crafts stalls will also be spread throughout the village, alongside the music venues.
The O’Heart Festival is a plastic bag and illicit drug free event, deeply rooted with environmental awareness, cooperative food growing, heart intelligence, body mind and spiritual healing, driven by musical communion.

About The Heart Collectors Garden Show

A special presentation of one of the most exciting Indie Folk bands emerging in Australia. The Heart Collectors will present a Garden concert in the stunning Tweed hinterland village of Tyalgum, New South Wales. A synergy of harmonies, cello, banjo, mandolin and guitar, this unconventional group bridge the generational divide – making everything old new again. Peter Paul and Mary meets Fleetwood Mac inspired alternative folk. Their music and lyrics move with a philosophical heart current.

Garden Tour & Concert package: Meet at Flutterbies Cottage Cafe @ 9:45am for morning tea, then Garden tour, 2 course lunch at Flutterbies and concert at The Garden from 1:30pm. Price is all inclusive.

Concert only: Meet at Flutterbies Cottage Cafe for a champagne reception and a special mini bus will take you to the Secret Garden venue. Tickets $35 per person. Drinks & refreshments are available for purchase at the Garden.
