The inaugural Tyalgum Hotel Open Road Blues and Folk Festival – May 3, 4 & 5! Up to 10 blues/folk artists playing over 3 days starting Friday night 3rd May. Lots of fun activities planned over the 3 days and some awesome artists playing on our outside stage, in a spectacular country setting, nestled at the foothills of the Border Rangers and Mt Warning. Get your dancing shoes ready for a fun filled weekend: Face painting for kids – Fun games / competitions – Street entertainers and artists – Charity raffles and give aways – BBQ Smoker, Bistro meals & drinks available onsite.

LEIGH JAMES

Flutterbies will be open for Burgers, beer & wine from 3pm – 6pm with Live music on the Main Stage featuring the fabulous Leigh James.

Leigh sings and plays guitar, stomp box and loops with taste, developed by a lifelong love of melodic music be it pop, blues, jazz or folk. Four Dolphin Awards to his credit, for Funk, Pop, Gospel, and Country, and recently highly commended in the 2011 International Songwriting Competion for his song Make Peace. Leigh has shared the stage with Shane Howard, Kate Ceberano, The Black Sorrows, Renee Geyer, Marcia Hines and Brian Cadd to name a few! 3 original CDs to his name, Leigh also has a vast repertoire of covers, dinner to dance, played with taste and a style all his own, honed in restaurants, bars, cruise ships and at countless weddings all over oz.

Glenn is a professional guitarist who has been privy to playing with some of the best musicians in the world. He began playing the guitar from a very early age and this dedication paid off when he was asked to play with Art Garfunkel, George Benson, Glenn Shorrock, Brian Cadd, Julie Anthony, Ross Wilson and countless others as a studio session guitarist on the Gold Coast.

Laden with a down to earth honesty and a healthy sense of humour, Bill’s songs are an eclectic amalgamation of swamp/roots, alternative county and hillbilly funk. As a solo artist, singer songwriter Bill Jacobi has embraced the role of multi-instrumentalist and one-man band.

Using foot percussion, lap slide, open tuned guitar and banjo, Bill has developed his own take on the roots, folk and alt country genres.

BRADLEY LEDWIDGE

Brad is a solo acoustic guitarist / singer from the Gold Coast and has played in the Gold Coast & Brisbane music scene for over 30 years. Up until 5 years ago Brad had mostly fronted bands but made the decision to strip it back and go solo, resulting in an entertaining collection of hits, pub classics and forgotten 1 hit wonders spanning back to the 60s. No backing tracks, just Brad and a guitar (and maybe a couple of basic loops).

Ray has a vast repertoire of popular Ozzie songs from the ’60s to the present and beyond…. Combined with Marta Stobbie who loves 70s rock and pop and has sung competitively in acapella choirs across Australia, in various bands and backing vocals for recording projects. Harmonies are her thing. She also dabbles in the alto sax as well, and with Ray’s guitar work and audience participation always encouraged (with some hilarious results) patrons are assured of a most enjoyable night out.
